The Gods Must be Crazy…

Working on Troupe stuff… I’ve been trying to figure out how to work out divine influences on in-game actions (outside of big picture events or “faction” actions) and I stumbled on something that I quite like at the moment.
If a Character worships a deity, they can bank some kind of favor token (still working in the parameters for that). If they have a token, when they roll dice, they can check if any of their dice (not counting sixes) match up with the deity’s sacred numbers (a sequence of one to four numbers). If they do, and the action is within the domain of the deity, they can spend the token(s) to get some sort of aid or advantage or extra effect in line with the deity and whatever they’re trying to do.
What I like: this is a player-side mechanic. The player has to accumulate favor and check their dice for the sacred numbers. The Referee determines the effect and its strength (maybe using the number of favor spent as a guide?). Gaining favor becomes another way for the Character to interact with the game world and it opens up activities to such as rites, rituals, sacrifices, service, etc. as ways to gain favor that can also generate adventure and consume resources.
